What is Laser Tattoo Removal?Laser Tattoo Removal in Biloxi, MS

Tattoos used to be considered permanent but thanks to advanced laser technology, unwanted tattoos can now be removed safely and effectively. Using the Q-Switched 532 and 1064 lasers, laser light pulses are directed at the ink particles on the skin. This effectively breaks the ink apart and greatly diminishes the appearance of the tattoo.

Best Candidates for Laser Tattoo Removal

The best candidates for laser tattoo removal are individuals of any age who have a tattoo they no longer desire to have. It is important to note that laser tattoo removal cannot remove permanent makeup.

Planning for Your Laser Tattoo Removal

Patients should have realistic expectations prior to undergoing laser tattoo removal. Different colors respond differently to the lasers. Bright green, yellow, tan and sky blue colors are more difficult to remove and may require more sessions.

How is Laser Tattoo Removal Performed?

Prior to treatment, a topical numbing cream and/or a lidocaine injection may be given depending on where the tattoo is located. One of our certified laser technicians will then move the laser across the treated area via a handheld device. Short laser pulses are focused on the tattoo penetrating the skin. The pigment particles absorb the laser light causing them to vibrate. This vibration forces the ink particles to break apart, which are then naturally absorbed and eliminated by the body’s lymphatic system. The laser only targets ink, so the skin surrounding the tattoo is left unharmed.

After Your Laser Tattoo Removal Treatment

Laser tattoo removal is non-surgical, so there is no downtime needed following your treatment. You will be able to resume your daily activities immediately. More than one treatment is usually required to completely remove a tattoo. The number of sessions required will depend on the size, location, and colors used in the tattoo. Most tattoos respond well after five sessions for dark colors and seven to nine treatments for multi-color tattoos. Following each treatment, the treated area should remain covered for seven days with Bacitracin applied daily. Direct sun exposure should also be avoided. With each treatment, the tattoo will appear lighter until it is no longer visible.

How Much Does Laser Tattoo Removal Cost?

The cost of laser tattoo removal varies based on the size of the tattoo being removed and the number of treatments needed. We can review the costs with you during your consultation as well as our payment and financing options. We accept cash, check, and major credit cards as well as offer financing through CareCredit®.
