Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a simple, yet effective exfoliation treatment for addressing superficial skin damage and enhancing the overall appearance of the skin. Michael Diaz, M.D., F.A.C.S., a board-certified plastic surgeon in Biloxi, MS, is proud to offer this and other cosmetic solutions to residents of Southern Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is an exfoliation treatment that removes the outermost layers of skin, along with peach fuzz and other debris. Compared to more aggressive exfoliation techniques, dermaplaning is a superficial exfoliation treatment that removes dead skin cells to reveal the underlying healthy skin. In doing so, dermaplaning can deliver smoother, softer and healthier-looking skin without any downtime. It may be an effective treatment option for patients looking to address minor skin damage and signs of aging. However, it can also benefit patients who simply want to achieve a refreshed appearance without the downtime associated with more invasive techniques.

What are the Benefits of Dermaplaning

As a gentle skin rejuvenation treatment, dermaplaning offers benefits that include:

  • Removal of fine hairs to produce smoother skin
  • Reduction in fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduction in acne scars and similar imperfections
  • Enhances efficacy of other skincare treatments and products
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • No downtime required
What is the Dermaplaning Treatment Like?

Dermaplaning is a comfortable treatment that requires no anesthetic. The treatment is performed using a medical-grade scalpel. During treatment, the scalpel will be held at a 45-degree angle and gently scraped against the skin, removing dead skin cells and peach fuzz. This process will be repeated until the face is fully treated, and typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete.

Is There Any Downtime After Dermaplaning?

There is no downtime required after a dermaplaning treatment. You may experience some temporary redness or sensitivity in the skin, but these symptoms typically fade within a few hours. You will be able to resume all normal activities immediately after your appointment.

What Results Can I Expect from Dermaplaning?

The results from dermaplaning will be visible immediately. Once treatment is complete, you will notice smoother, softer and brighter skin. These results will become more noticeable as any irritation in the skin subdues. The dermaplaning treatment removes approximately three weeks’ worth of dead skin cells and peach fuzz. This means that you can expect your results to last about one month until additional treatments are needed. Furthermore, patients who are looking to address acne scars and other forms of skin damage may require multiple treatment sessions for best results. During your consultation, we’ll develop a personalized treatment plan so you know exactly what to expect from dermaplaning.

How Much Does Dermaplaning Cost in Mississippi?

The cost of dermaplaning varies with each person as it is based on the number of treatments needed to produce your desired results. We can inform you of any and all costs associated with your treatment during your initial consultation. We are also proud to offer financing options to help make our treatments as affordable as possible.
