Mini Facelift in Biloxi, MS

Sometimes just part of the face requires a little enhancement and lift. Michael Diaz, M.D., F.A.C.S., a board-certified plastic surgeon, performs mini facelifts in Biloxi, MS, on people living in and around Southern Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama who want to look refreshed and more youthful.

What is a Mini Facelift?

With a mini facelift, the procedure targets the midface and below. It is a preferred procedure for someone who has sagging skin in the lower half of the face and may be performed in conjunction with other treatments such as fillers or fat transfers resulting in a more contoured facial structure on the lower half of the face.

The Best Candidates for a Mini Facelift

The best candidates for a mini facelift may have been treated with dermal fillers with only minimal or no success. They fall into the middle where a traditional facelift is not warranted, but dermal fillers do not quite achieve the desired look.

Planning Your Mini Facelift

To plan for your mini facelift, we recommend you schedule a consultation with Dr. Diaz to discuss your issues with your facial appearance and how you would like to look. He also evaluates your face so that he can make a recommendation about whether a mini facelift or another procedure is the best option. For some patients, he may suggest other medical spa treatments be combined with the mini facelift.

Preparing for Your Mini Facelift

Prior to having a mini facelift, it is important to make sure you are healthy enough to undergo surgery. This requires an overall checkup and bloodwork to rule out underlying issues that may be affected by this procedure. Additionally, you may be asked to stop taking any medications or supplements that thin the blood. If you smoke, it is recommended you stop smoking for a few weeks prior to the surgery as it can slow the healing process.

Types of Anesthesia

General anesthesia. General anesthesia renders patients unconscious during the surgery and unable to feel anything. Medications are given intravenously and through inhalation.

Mini Facelift Procedure

During a mini facelift, Dr. Diaz makes incisions starting at the bottom of the earlobes then going behind the ears and up to the hairline. The skin is pulled back so that it no longer sags around the jaws and there is more contour on the lower half of the face. Once it is pulled back to a natural and younger appearance, the area is sutured, and excess skin is removed.

A mini facelift usually takes about two hours to complete. While most mini facelifts follow a general method, each one is an individual procedure.

After Your Mini Facelift

Following your mini facelift, we place surgical dressings around your face to support and protect it. Once the effects of the anesthesia have dissipated, you may be allowed to go home with your companion who plans to stay with you for the first 24 hours. Bruising and swelling usually begin to diminish within a couple of days.

We recommend that you sleep with your head elevated for the first few days following surgery to prevent increased swelling at the incision sites. Stitches are removed within a week of the surgery.

How Much Does a Mini Facelift Cost in Mississippi?

The cost of a mini facelift varies with each patient based on the extent of the surgery and if other treatments are performed during the same procedure. We can discuss the cost as well as our payment options during your consultation. We accept cash, checks and credit cards in addition to providing financing through CareCredit®.

Getting Back to Normal Following a Mini Facelift

Most people return to work within a week of the surgery but should avoid any heavy living, strenuous activities and anything that increases blood pressure. After about three or four weeks, normal activities may be resumed.

Your New Look

The results of a mini facelift take a few months to take shape. Once the incisions have fully healed, the scars are well hidden behind the ears and in the hairline. Mini facelifts typically last several years if you take care of your skin.
