Brow Lift in Biloxi, MS

As we age, it is common to look tired and irritated because of sagging skin or horizontal lines and wrinkles. Michael Diaz, M.D., F.A.C.S., a board-certified plastic surgeon, performs brow lifts on men and women living in and around Southern Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama who want to look rest and rejuvenated.

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift, also called a forehead lift, is performed to lift and smooth skin above the eyes and on the forehead to erase creases and lines. Advancements in medical technologies have improved to offer the ability to perform this procedure endoscopically. When done properly, a brow lift results in a natural and relaxed look.

The Best Candidates for a Brow Lift

The best candidates for a brow lift have excess skin over the brows, which give the appearance of a permanent grimace or tired expression. When considering a brow lift, it is important to understand the procedure and the realistic outcome from the procedure.

Planning for Your Brow Lift

The first step in planning for your brow lift is scheduling a consultation with Dr. Diaz to discuss your concerns, specifically your brow and forehead area. In addition to his evaluation, he reviews your medical history and makes sure you are in good health for the procedure. Once he completes the evaluation, he can make a recommendation about whether a brow lift or another facial procedure is necessary.

Preparing for Your Brow Lift

Prior to your forehead lift, you must have an overall health check-up and blood work to ensure there are no underlying health issues. Additionally, you should avoid medications and supplements that thin the blood. You may be given a prescription for medications to prevent infection. If you smoke, you should stop a few weeks prior to the procedure as smoking can slow the healing process and cause even more signs of aging.

Brow Lift Procedure

Depending on the extent of excess skin, the brow lift may be done using an endoscope (surgical video device) and other specific instruments. This is done by making small incisions made within the hairline and inserting the device under the skin to reposition or remove tissue and muscles beneath the skin to correct where the forehead creases and brow furrows.

Another method to accomplish a more relaxed look is a coronal brow lift in which specific regions of the brow are corrected. An incision is made from ear to ear to lift the forehead and remove excess skin from the scalp.

After your Brow Lift

After your brow lift, incisions are closed using removable or absorbable sutures, skin adhesives, or surgical tape, followed by loosely wrapping your head around the area with bandages and gauze. This helps protect the incisions and minimize swelling and bruising.

With an endoscopic brow lift, there may be some numbness around the incision area, which becomes somewhat uncomfortable as the numbness wears off. Any discomfort is manageable with prescription medications.
In terms of recovery, most people return to work within a week to 10 days with bruising and swelling diminishing within a couple of weeks. We recommend you sleep with your head elevated for the first few days and avoid strenuous activities and bending over for a few weeks.

How Much Does a Brow Lift Cost in Mississippi?

The cost of a brow lift depends on what method is used to achieve your desired look and whether other procedures or treatments are performed at the same time. We can discuss the cost with you during your consultation with Dr. Diaz as well as our payment options including financing through CareCredit®.

Getting Back to Normal Following a Brow Lift

In the weeks following your brow lift, swelling and bruising subside, and the results begin to become visible. Any leftover bruising and swelling is easily concealed with makeup.

Your New Look

Once the area has fully healed, and the swelling goes down, the result is a more natural, relaxed expression. It is important to remember that the goal is to look rested not permanently surprised. The results from a brow lift last about five to 10 years depending on how well you take care of your skin.
