Lip Injections in Biloxi, MS

Are you unhappy with the shape and size of your lips? In Southern Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama, Michael Diaz, M.D., F.A.C.S., performs lip augmentation on women who want fuller lips to enhance their appearance and smile, so they look and feel younger.

What is Lip Augmentation?

With lip augmentation, lips are resized and reshaped to enhance the mouth and other facial features. Whether the goal is to increase or decrease the fullness or to reshape them to look more normal, lip augmentation brings balance to the entire face and creates a more attractive smile.

The procedure is most often done to add fullness to the lips using dermal fillers; however, it also may be done to reduce the size and reshape larger lips, so they blend in with the face. No matter the purpose, the results look natural and complement the other facial features.

Best Candidates for Lip Augmentation

The best candidates for lip augmentation are most often women who feel like their lips have gotten thinner or they’ve lost contour and definition. They want to have a more prominent smile that gives them a younger appearance.

Planning for Your Lip Augmentation

To plan for lip augmentation, you must schedule a consultation with Dr. Diaz so that he can evaluate your lips and discuss how you want your lips to look. You should have a realistic idea of the outcome. Your lip augmentation results are natural and balanced with your other facial features.

Preparing for Your Lip Augmentation

The only preparation for lip augmentation involves avoiding medications and supplements that thin the blood as this may cause excess bleeding or bruising. Additionally, if you smoke, it is advised that you stop a few weeks before the treatment since smoking can hinder any recovery and negatively affect the appearance of your new lips.

Lip Augmentation Procedure

A lip augmentation procedure is most often performed with dermal fillers and fat transfers. Prior to the treatment, the area is cleansed and numbed to prevent any discomfort. Some fillers have numbing agents mixed into the gel. With dermal fillers, the gel is injected and massaged into the targeted area to evenly spread it out.

With fat transfers, the procedure is slightly more invasive but combines two procedures in one. Fat is transferred from one part of the body using liposuction then prepared for injection into the lips. This lasts much longer than fillers.

After Your Lip Augmentation

The amount of healing and recovery after lip augmentation depends on the method used. Dermal fillers are quick and easy with no recovery. There is typically some very slight swelling and possibly redness, but both go away within a day or two. It is possible for you to return to your daily activities immediately following your treatment.

With fat transfers, there may be more swelling and some bruising, but they resolve themselves within a few days. The area of the body used for fat harvesting requires some healing and recovery. You may be asked to wear a compression garment to support the area and minimize any discomfort.

How Much Does Lip Augmentation Cost?

The cost of lip augmentation varies based on the method used to achieve the desired look and whether it is performed in conjunction with other procedures or treatments. We can review the costs with you during your consultation as well as our payment and financing options. We accept cash, check, and major credit cards as well as offer financing through CareCredit®.

Getting Back to Normal After Lip Augmentation

Following lip augmentation, getting back to normal varies with each method. When using fillers, people return to their normal routine immediately following the procedure, whereas fat transfer and implants usually involve a week or two of recovery before returning to normal activities.

Your New Look

Once your lips heal, and any bruising, swelling and redness go away, the results are beautiful and natural looking fuller lips that have definition and soften your expressions. The results vary from a few months for fillers to a few years for fat transfer.
